Similarly to the girlfriend we wanted in our opening sequence we wanted to use a male who looked typically from London and acted so he could survive the harsh life of inner London. We decided to use this actor because his body language reflected the London attitude as did his tone of voice.
The boyfriend although not harshly important to the media product was required to have a talk back attitude as the beginning of the opening sequence is a confrontation and one of our main requirements for this character was for that he was comfortable with being able to talk back in almost a rude manner to the other actors and take insults without feeling insecure or taking the insults personally.
